About Me

My Story

Welcome to Take Up The Reins EHS Specialist Advice .

My name is Jane Patching and I’m based in Lincolnshire. I am a qualified Health, Safety and Environment Manager and also a keen equestrian and enjoy competing in dressage with my horse.

My qualifications include:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate

  • NEBOSH Fire Certificate

  • NEBOSH Environmental Certificate

  • Preparing to Teach in the Life Long Learning Sector (PTLLS)

  • Fire Marshal

  • First Aid at Work

I have extensive EHS experience across a variety of industries, including agriculture, waste and recycling, manufacturing, security and renewable energy.  I have realised that for some equine and small businesses, health and safety can be a nightmare to find time to pick through legislation, identify potential risks and work to make the business a safe place to be and it is not always possible to have a full time EHS member of staff to take this on.

Here is where I come in…..

I am offering a bespoke service to individual equine and small business to help relieve the stress of trying to fathom the sometimes mystical and confusing aspects of health and safety. My aim is to provide support and guidance to allow you to “Take Up The Reins” and be comfortable knowing you have considered all the relevant health, safety and environmental requirements to keep you safe and legal.

Please contact me for an informal chat as to how I can assist you with a friendly, jargon busting, realistic approach to your health, safety and environmental requirements.

"I engaged Take Up the Reins to do a full assessment of the health and safety aspects of my livery yard prior to opening. Communication was excellent, with a visit booked quickly to survey the site. The digital report followed promptly and covers a wide range of areas from security to chemical storage in a well presented, easy to read format. They were also happy to answer my follow up questions. I would highly recommend using Take Up the Reins for their professional and knowledgeable service."
